The both/and blog is a collaboration between a few friends who want to connect the lived experience of Christianity to the realities we face in the day-to-day trenches of life in the modern world.

Whether it’s longing in a love ballad, brokenness in an Oscar winner, honesty in stand-up, the ramblings of an English poet, or anything else that grabs our attention, we write, share, and explore out of the firm conviction that these things can both expose the aches buried beneath the surface of our world and – to varying degrees and in sometimes surprising ways – allow us to catch glimpses of grace.

Above all, we want to write things that help us (and hopefully other people) understand the beauty of the gospel: that excellent news of the expansive, gentle, transforming love that God has opened to us fragile, anxious, and needy human beings in Jesus Christ.
